The best Slack survey apps in 2026, compared on anonymity and who gets billed

Slack has no survey feature. A poll button is missing too, but a survey is the harder gap: several questions, sent to a set of people, on a schedule, with answers that nobody can trace back to a name. Every app that claims to fill it draws the line somewhere different, and the line that matters most is the one their pricing pages bury: whether "anonymous" is a promise made in the interface or a property of how the answers are stored.

Full disclosure: we make asyncmate, one of the apps below. We checked each vendor's own pricing and feature pages on September 9, 2026, and we say where a competitor is the better pick, including the cases where the right survey tool is not a Slack app at all.

Three questions before you compare features

Is it anonymous, or just unlabeled? Most Slack survey tools store who answered and hide the name in the results view. That is fine for a lunch vote and useless for "how is your workload", because the team assumes, correctly, that someone can look it up. Real anonymity means the identity was never written down, and results are withheld below a minimum number of responses so a three-person team cannot be de-anonymized by elimination.

Who gets billed? Survey apps in Slack charge by responses per month, by the people who create surveys, by the people who answer, or per workspace. The same 30-person team lands on very different bills depending on which meter the vendor chose.

Poll or survey? A poll is one question with a public tally. A survey is several questions with private answers. Half the apps marketed for Slack surveys are poll apps with a multi-question mode added, which shows in how they handle anonymity and history. If a single vote is really what you need, our Slack poll app comparison is the better read.

The comparison in one table

Numbers are from each vendor's pricing page, last checked September 9, 2026.

Simple Poll

Simple Poll is the poll app most Slack workspaces already have, and its survey mode is an extension of that: on the paid plan a survey can carry up to 20 questions, and the classic /poll command stays for single votes. Anonymity for polls is included free, which is more than most competitors offer at $0.

Pricing: the free tier covers 100 responses a month, but surveys with more than one question are paid only. Premium is $49 a month billed annually for a workspace of 1 to 24 members, and the price rises with workspace size.

The catch for surveys specifically is the shape of the product. It is a poll tool that also does surveys, so there is no recurring pulse schedule in the sense an HR tool means it, and anonymity is described as hiding who answered; ask whether an admin export can reveal names before you run anything sensitive on it. The workspace price also means a 200-person company pays for everyone so one team can survey.

• Best for: teams already on Simple Poll that occasionally need a few questions instead of one.
• Main drawback: surveys are paid only, and the whole workspace pays.

Polly

Polly is the survey specialist among Slack-native apps: nine question types, recurring pulses, eNPS templates, delivery by DM, an API with webhooks, and results that export cleanly. If you are running a feedback program and want to stay inside Slack, Polly is the tool built for that job, and we compare the whole product on the Polly alternative page and in our Polly review.

Pricing: the free plan allows 25 responses a month with 45 days of history. Surveys, standups and recurrence start on Basic at $19 a month per creator licence, billed annually. Anonymous responses start on Pro at $29 a month per licence. A Team plan is $249 a month for five users on annual billing.

The catch is where the meter sits. Twenty-five responses is one survey in a mid-sized channel, so the free tier is a demo. Anonymity, the feature that makes a survey worth running, costs $29 a month per person who sends surveys, and the bill grows with the number of managers who want to ask their own team something.

• Best for: teams buying a full Slack feedback suite, with a small number of people who run surveys.
• Main drawback: anonymity is a $29 a month per creator feature, and the free tier is effectively a trial.

Geekbot

Geekbot is the standup incumbent, and its surveys ride on the same bot: scheduled or one-off, with an employee NPS template and anonymous reporting available on every tier. For a team already running Geekbot standups it is the zero-new-tools option, and the anonymity does not require a plan upgrade.

Pricing: the free plan covers 10 users, shared between standups and surveys. Beyond that, surveys and polls are $1 per respondent per month, or $0.75 on annual billing, on top of the standup price of $3 per participant. Geekbot charges once per person a month, not per survey, so a weekly pulse costs the same as a monthly one.

The catch is that the meter counts answering. A monthly pulse sent to 40 people costs $40 a month, every month, and a survey program that gets everyone responding is the most expensive outcome. The full product comparison is on our Geekbot alternative page, and our Geekbot review goes through the billing in detail.

• Best for: teams already paying for Geekbot standups that want surveys from the same bot.
• Main drawback: per-respondent billing charges you for participation.

DailyBot

DailyBot is the multi-platform option: the same check-ins, forms, surveys and mood tracking run on Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat and Discord. If your company is split across chat tools, that alone decides it. Forms and surveys are part of the core product, alongside kudos and workflow automation.

Pricing: there is a free plan, but anonymous responses are an Advanced-tier feature at $6.50 per active user a month, or $5 on annual billing. An active user is anyone who performed an action in the period, which for a survey means anyone who answered.

The catch is that the one survey feature that matters lives on the top tier. A 30-person team that wants anonymous pulses is paying $150 to $195 a month for it, most of which buys automation and AI reporting the survey does not need. We go through the tiers in our DailyBot review.

• Best for: teams on Teams, Google Chat or Discord, or teams that want culture tooling with the survey.
• Main drawback: anonymity is only on the $5 to $6.50 per active user tier.

asyncmate

Our own tool, so read this knowing that. asyncmate is an async standup bot whose check-in engine also runs anonymous surveys in Slack: pick the Survey, eNPS or Weekly Pulse preset, choose who gets it and how often, and the bot DMs the questions on schedule exactly as it would a standup. Results appear in a protected Survey results view in the dashboard, not in a channel digest.

The anonymity is structural rather than cosmetic. An anonymous answer is written against a one-way per-run hash, so there is no column holding the name and nothing for an owner or an export to reveal. When the run closes its key is deleted, and from then on not even a database query can link an answer to a person. Results stay hidden until at least five people have responded, which closes the case where a small group is worked out by counting who is missing. One honest limit applies to every tool on this list: the text of a free-text answer can still identify its author to people who know the context.

Pricing: the free plan covers 10 people who answer, at any workspace size. Beyond that it is $2.50 a month per person who answers, and anonymous surveys are on Pro. Nobody who merely receives a survey and ignores it is billed. During the launch offer, until December 1, 2026, every Pro feature is free for every workspace.

The catch: asyncmate is a standup product with surveys attached, not a survey platform. There is no nine-question-type builder, no benchmark database, and no HR analytics beyond the results view and export. If you want a Slack survey that a people team will report on quarterly, Polly or an HR platform does more.

• Best for: teams that want honest pulse checks and eNPS from the bot that already runs their standups, without a per-respondent meter.
• Main drawback: the newest app here, and the survey builder is deliberately simple.

HR platforms that connect to Slack

Above roughly 200 people, the question usually changes from "which Slack app" to "which engagement platform, and does it reach people in Slack". Workleap (the company behind Officevibe) and Culture Amp both deliver pulse surveys and eNPS with benchmarks, manager dashboards and action plans, and both list Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations. They are survey platforms that happen to post into Slack, not Slack apps.

Pricing: Workleap publishes annual tiers starting at $4,999 a year, with no free plan. Culture Amp does not publish prices; it quotes per employee on annual billing, with tiers by company size. Both are a procurement conversation, not an install button.

The catch is obvious at the small end. A 25-person team does not need benchmarks against 1,000 companies, and $5,000 a year buys a lot of $2.50 seats. At the large end the calculation flips: a Slack survey bot gives you answers, an engagement platform gives you a program.

• Best for: companies over about 200 people with a people team that will own the survey program.
• Main drawback: price and rollout effort that make no sense below that size.

When you need no app at all

Workflow Builder on paid Slack plans can send a form on a schedule and post the answers to a channel or a spreadsheet. It is free with the plan you already pay for, and for "which day suits the retro" or a weekly structured update it is plenty. What it cannot do is anonymity: the workflow records who submitted the form even when the message it posts leaves the name out, and people find that out fast.

A Google Form linked in the channel is free and familiar. Whether it is anonymous depends entirely on the form settings, since workplace accounts often collect the signed-in email by default, and nothing reminds anyone to fill it in. It is the right tool for a one-off question to a large group and the wrong one for a recurring pulse.

The rule: if the answers would be the same with a name attached, use Workflow Builder and skip the install. If they would not, the identity handling is the product, and that is what the apps above are charging for. Our guide to anonymous employee surveys in Slack covers what to ask, how often, and how to explain the anonymity to your team so they believe it. If what you need is a way to ask questions anonymously, live in a channel or ahead of an all-hands, see Slack anonymous questions.

Which one should you pick

You already use Simple Poll and need a few questions occasionally: Simple Poll Premium, if the workspace price works for your size.

You are running a feedback program inside Slack, with a few people who send surveys: Polly, and price the $29 anonymity licences against how many managers will need one.

You are on Geekbot standups: its surveys, with the per-respondent math done first.

Your company spans Teams, Google Chat or Discord: DailyBot, on the Advanced tier if anonymity matters.

You want honest pulses and eNPS with your standups, billed only for people who answer: asyncmate.

You have a people team and more than 200 employees: an engagement platform, delivered into Slack.

The answers would be the same with names on them: Workflow Builder, no install.

FAQ

What is the best survey app for Slack? For a feedback program run inside Slack, Polly is the most complete. For a team that mainly wants standups and honest pulse checks, asyncmate runs both from one bot with anonymity that does not store names. Simple Poll covers occasional multi-question surveys for teams already using it, and Geekbot's surveys make sense for teams already on its standups.

Is there a free Slack survey app? Free tiers exist but are narrow. Polly allows 25 responses a month, Simple Poll 100 responses but polls only, Geekbot 10 users shared with standups, and asyncmate 10 people who answer. Workflow Builder forms are free on paid Slack plans but are never anonymous.

Can Slack surveys be anonymous? Only through an app, and only some apps mean it. Slack messages, reactions and Workflow Builder forms all record the sender. Among the apps, Geekbot and Simple Poll include anonymous modes on every tier, Polly and DailyBot offer anonymous responses on paid tiers, and asyncmate stores answers against a hash with results withheld below five responses. Ask each vendor whether an admin can see who said what; the answer tells you which kind of anonymous it is.

How do I run an eNPS survey in Slack? Geekbot and asyncmate both ship an eNPS template, and Polly has one on its paid tiers. Send it quarterly, keep it anonymous, and tell the team how the anonymity works before the first run; the score is only as honest as people believe the process is.

Does Slack have a built-in survey feature? No. Workflow Builder forms on paid plans collect structured answers, but there is no anonymity and no analysis. Everything that runs a proper survey in Slack is an installed app or an external platform.
