Help/Connect Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools
Connect Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools
asyncmate has an MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is how AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or your code editor read data from other apps. Once you connect one, you can ask it about your check-ins in your own words, and it reads the answers, blockers and runs you can see in asyncmate. It can read, never write. Connecting an AI tool is part of Pro.
The server address
https://asyncmate.com/api/mcp
Your AI tool asks you to sign in the first time. There is no key to copy.
Connect it
- Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app): open Settings, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste the address. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner may need to add it for the organization first.
- Claude Code: run
claude mcp add --transport http asyncmate https://asyncmate.com/api/mcp, then/mcpinside Claude Code to sign in. - ChatGPT: turn on developer mode in ChatGPT's settings and create a connector with the address above. ChatGPT's own help has the current steps.
- VS Code: run MCP: Add Server from the command palette, choose HTTP and paste the address.
Other AI tools that support MCP with OAuth sign-in may work too.
The tool opens an asyncmate page in your browser. Sign in with the Slack or Microsoft account you use in your workspace. You don't need an asyncmate account, and none is created for you.
The page shows which tool is asking, where its access goes and what it can read. If you belong to more than one Teams team that uses asyncmate, pick one. Click Allow and you're back in your tool. Next time the same tool connects, you won't be asked again, unless you belong to more than one team: then you pick the team each time.
What your AI tool can read
- The check-ins you answer or manage: their questions, everyone's answers and each run's details.
- The blockers tracked from those check-ins, with the words they were quoted from.
- The names and time zones of the people who share a check-in with you.
- Your own logged hours.
It never reads anonymous check-in answers (it sees only how many people answered), check-ins whose AI is turned off, check-ins you aren't part of, or anyone else's hours. It can't post, change or delete anything.
Who can connect
Any member of a workspace on Pro, except bots and guests from other organizations. While a payment is failing, connected tools keep working. The workspace owner's AI switch in Billing turns AI tool connections off together with the AI digest and Ask.
Access is checked on every request. When you leave the workspace, the plan ends or AI is switched off, the tool's next request is refused.
Disconnect
Remove asyncmate from your tool's connector settings. The workspace owner sees every connected tool under Settings, in Connected AI tools, and can disconnect any of them there. The tool stops working on its next request.
Privacy
What your tool reads goes to the company behind that tool, under its terms. asyncmate keeps which tool you connected, when, and when it last got access, so the owner can see it and you can export or erase it. The privacy policy has the details.
