Your standups, inside the AI tool you already use

asyncmate runs a hosted MCP server. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or VS Code, sign in with Slack or Microsoft, and ask about your check-ins, blockers and hours in your own words. It reads and never writes.

Jamie is blocked on the billing migration, open since Thursday, and Marko offered to review it. Ana is waiting on staging access and has asked twice.

One address, no key to copy

Paste the server address into your tool. The first time, it opens an asyncmate page in your browser: sign in with the Slack or Microsoft account you use in your workspace, see which tool is asking and what it can read, and click Allow. You are back in your tool with six new tools.

  • Claude on the web or desktop: Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Paste the address.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http asyncmate https://asyncmate.com/api/mcp, then /mcp to sign in.
  • ChatGPT: turn on developer mode in settings and create a connector with the address.
  • VS Code: MCP: Add Server from the command palette, choose HTTP, paste the address.

Six tools, all of them reads

Each one is scoped to the person who signed in. A connected tool can never read more than its owner could in asyncmate.

list_checkins

The check-ins you answer or manage, with their questions and schedule, so the AI knows what exists before it asks for answers.

get_answers

Everyone's answers to a check-in over 1 to 90 days, newest first. Long periods say when they were cut short, so the AI never pretends it read more than it did.

get_run

One run in full: who answered, who didn't, and the answers. An anonymous run returns only the numbers.

list_blockers

Open or resolved blockers tracked from those check-ins, with the words they were quoted from, their owner and their age.

list_teammates

The names, member ids and time zones of the people who share a check-in with you. The ids are what the other tools take as filters.

get_my_hours

Your own logged hours, by project, for up to a year. Nobody else's.

What it never reads

  • Anonymous check-in answers. It sees only how many people answered.
  • Check-ins whose AI is switched off, and check-ins you aren't part of.
  • Anyone else's hours, your Slack channels, DMs or files.
  • It can't post, change or delete anything. Every tool is read-only.

What the owner sees

Settings has a Connected AI tools card: who connected which tool, when, and when it last read anything. Disconnect any of them there and it stops on its next request. Access is checked on every request, so someone who leaves the workspace loses it the moment they do, and the AI switch in Billing turns every connection off together with the AI digest and Ask.

Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, the same flow the AI tools expect. Tokens expire and are refreshed; a revoked connection fails on the next call, not next week.

No AI tool of your own? Ask from Slack or Teams.

The same questions work without a connector. Type /asyncmate ask what is blocking the team this week? in Slack, or ask the bot in Teams, and the answer arrives in your DM with the check-in answers it used quoted underneath.

MCP server FAQ

What is an MCP server, in plain words?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard AI tools use to read data from other apps. An app that runs an MCP server offers a set of tools; once you connect, your AI tool can call them when a question needs them. asyncmate's server offers six, all of them reads, so Claude or ChatGPT can look up your check-ins instead of guessing.
Which AI tools can connect?
Claude on the web and desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT and VS Code are the ones the help guide covers. Any other MCP client that supports OAuth sign-in may work too; the server speaks standard streamable HTTP and sign-in follows the usual OAuth 2.1 discovery.
Do I need an API key?
No. The first time your tool connects, it opens an asyncmate page in your browser where you sign in with the Slack or Microsoft account you use in your workspace. You don't need an asyncmate account, and none is created. Next time the same tool connects, you aren't asked again.
Can the AI post to our standups or change anything?
No. All six tools read. There is no tool that posts a message, submits an answer, creates a check-in or edits a blocker. If you want an AI that writes your standup for you, that is a different kind of tool, and we say which ones do that in our guide to connecting Claude to Slack standups.
Who can connect?
Any member of a workspace on Pro, except bots and guests from other organizations. Each person sees only the check-ins they answer or manage, so a connected tool can never read more than its owner could in asyncmate. While a payment is failing, connected tools keep working; when the plan ends or AI is switched off, the next request is refused.
What does the workspace owner see?
Settings has a Connected AI tools card listing who connected which tool, when, and when it last read anything. The owner can disconnect any of them there, and the tool stops working on its next request. The AI switch in Billing turns every connection off together with the AI digest and Ask.
Does it cost extra?
No. The MCP server is part of Pro at $2.50 per active participant per month. Connecting a tool never makes anyone billable; only people who answer check-ins or log hours are.
What happens to our data in the AI tool?
What your tool reads goes to the company behind that tool, under its terms, the same as anything else you paste into it. asyncmate keeps which tool you connected, when, and when it last had access, so the owner can see it and you can export or erase it. The privacy policy has the details.
